Trip to mullayanagiri, kemmangundi, Agumbe, udupi

Trip to mullayanagiri, kemmangundi, Agumbe, udupi approximately 1000km

Initially I had plans to go in bike but my friends also wanted to come, so we went in my car elite i20 petrol.

It was three people who started Bangalore at 1pm on Wednesday 25th of Jan 2017 reached chikkamangaluru around 6pm and stayed at the hotel rajmahal costed around 1000 rupees with extra bed in a 2bed room
It was very noisy outside with so many people shouting and the  vehicles.
Left Chikkamagalur the next morning around 6am and reached Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka around 7:30am. Roads were bad at the top of hill.

We drove amidst the tall green trees, feeling the winds and watching the clouds. We lived the moment watching the nature.
We stopped at Chikkamagaluru view point and took some pics.We trekked the steps all the way  the Shiva temple which is located at the top. We were now at the highest point in Karnataka at 1930 m. View was amazing with greenery everywhere around and fog covered mountains farther.
It was windy and very cold, a very beautiful scenic place. Also you can trek all the way to Bababudangiri which is 10 km but we didn't.

We also trekked another mountain which is opposite to mountain where no people trek and it has no steps. We took many pictures and videos of the misty mountains around.

We left around 9:30am and reached kemmangundi around 11:30am checked in at hotel zpoint costed around 1000 rupees with extra bed in a two-bed room.

We then went to kalhatti falls which is around 6km from lodge.
We initaially thought that it was a very small waterfall. Water was very less falling from top of mountain .We wanted to explore the origin of water. So, we did bare-foot rock climbing as there was a temple beside the waterfalls. We were delighted and amazed to see the water come from never ending height. We went back after sometime putting an end to our quest to the origins of the waterfall as we were tired.

We went back to hotel rested for a while and left the place at 3:30pm to reach z-point and Shanti falls.

Don't follow google maps it shows wrong, ask people they will guide you to reach destination.

You need to go towards kemmangundi and you can see many jeep parked. We parked our car and walked.
This place is heaven on earth. We walked along a very narrow mountain ridge in the forests. Had we missed going to this place we would have missed the view of the picturesque mountains.
It's not that far to reach destination it's actually good to walk and enjoy the nature, we reached Shanti falls.
And then if we go little further you can stop and watch a breathtaking view. What an amazing view!
Also there is Hebbe falls which is declared a tiger reserve. We didn't visit that though.

We left around 6am and reached Agumbe,'The cheerapunji of the south' around 8am. Our plan was to visit Jogi gundi and Onake abbi falls but got to know from the localites that these places were temporarily prohibited from trekking. So, we went to kundadri hill which is at around 15km from agumbe.
Driving through the kundadri ghats was very challenging as the roads were very steep, narrow and had hairpin like curves.
Need to very careful driving here. But it was worth driving with an amazing view and a jain temple located at the peak.

Started towards udupi, stopped at Agumbe sunset view point. Greenery around with sounds of forest, water and aroma of the nature. We then reached Udupi and we couldn't find hotels.  It was booked almost everywhere, so then booked one using Yatra .Luckily we were able to find Pancharatna paradise hotel costed around 1.5k in a 2 bedroom hotel with extra bed.

We visited the famous Shri Udupi Krishna temple and had lunch at the temple. Rested for a while and left to visit Malpe beach which is around 8km from the temple. Hearing the waves lap against the shore as the sunset was serenity.
We played there, had some junk food and spent most of the time in beach.
As it was our last destination of our trip and headed back to hotel and left the next morning to get back to Bangalore. At the end we were spellbound for sure and added some eventful days.

Total cost for petrol : around 6k rs
Hotels cost : 3.5k rs
Misc : 2k rs

P.S: It is very difficult to find good places to eat.
We had some worst food except for in Udupi.
